Life is made up of small pleasures.
Here are a few of mine:
1. Men holding bouquets of flowers at airports and subway terminals
2. Emails. Truly personalized, thoughtful emails, signed and sealed with a loved one’s name.
3. Cozy cashmere sweaters.
4. A good laugh over a long forgotten joke
5. Compliments from a stranger
6. Seeing people read, write, or draw in cafes, on the bus, or on a train (art will never be dead if we continue to strive for and engage in it)
7. Anything in French (ext.: French onion soup)
8. Microwaving something juuust right (as Goldilocks would put it)
9. Old couples holding hands
10. When contacts go in and come out on the first try.
11. Crackling fireplaces and big cups of tea
12. A good book and warm socks
13. Coming across a catchy song on Youtube, only to discover that you also love every single one of the artist’s other songs
14. Catching a bus in the nick of time (ditto with transferring buses, and having the transfer bus appear right as you step out of the first one)
15. Good hair days
16. Christmas.  Christmas music.  Christmas gift exchanges.  Really, anything related to Christmas.
17. Having a warm hand over cold feet
18. Hearing a good, true love story about how two people first met
19. French manicures and British accents
20. Reminiscing about the past, and realizing that you can now laugh about the times you cried.
Feel free to share and add to this list! I’d love to hear what the small, simple pleasures in your life are, too.
